The Moon Goddess

Her hair flowed in the aether like a goddess of eternal beauty
Her eyes held the brilliance of the stars
Her coat had the beauty of the night sky above
So how could she fall for me?

My hair is as simple as the dirt below her
My eyes, as polls of mud that stare at her grace
My coat of a rusted hue has no purpose with the night
So why must I torture myself

She is lonely as the moon she holds
In that, we are the same
My love for her burns every night
So maybe I can warm her heart

As long as she is here
I will hold her in my heart
As long as she needs comfort
I will bare my soul

All this, for my darling Luna
